We Will Show You Fear in a Handful of Dust (2014) was a temporary public installation created by Los Angeles-based artist collective Finishing School, in collaboration with artists Nadia Afghani and Matt Fisher and organized for Occidental College by Aandrea Stang. We Will Show You Fear in a Handful of Dust was a participatory sculpture that employed the fabrication of a full size replica of a MQ-1B Predator drone aircraft. Completed in a barn-raising style by over 300 members of the college community and general public, this project was created to generate dialogue about the American military and Obama’s presidency. The New York Times featured the work in a front-page article on pop cultural and artistic critiques of Obama’s drone policy.
